From our discussion to date the following are potential key areas to be addressed by our Strategy
- ICT Planning, development and Funding
- Staff CPD
- Online Managed Services (AUPs, Email, VLE, Digital Content, Video Conferencing)
- Infrastructure, Support and Maintenance (Hardware, Software & networks)
- Broadband Connectivity (Including WiFi)
- Innovation and Research
- Developing independant/Self-Managed learning skills for staff and learners
- Developing a clear coherent communication strategy across the VEC
In relation to the process of putting a plan in place
- The plan needs to have consensus – be owned by all staff – perhaps the idea of a questionnaire could help engage staff at the beginning
- The Plan should set clear targets and give clear messages to all staff
Also the idea of mentors for ‘technophobes’ or those who are slower to adopt to new technologies could be explored.

ReplyDeleteI would like to compliment your comprehensive reference to all of the key areas to be addressed.
I would like to offer one suggestion, which may be more relevant to the Post-Primary Colleges in CLVEC - that parents are included in references to our learners also.
One way in which Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh is embracing the use of ICT with regards to communicating with parents is the roll out of parent log in details to ePortal and thus their child's reports, timetables and relevant personal information.

ReplyDeleteIt is important that we capture what we are currently doing as well as future plans. Also, I think that Parents are one of the groups of stakeholders that we need to involve in the development of our plans (particularly the school/ service level plans). We may discuss how we can do this at our meeting next week.
